Prepared as sterile, absorbable sponges, Willospon\u00ae allows control of blood oozing when conventional haemostasis is difficult to achieve and when the use of non-absorbable material is not desirable.\n\nAs the Willospon\u00ae sponge is pre-sterilised with gamma rays, it should not be re-sterilised. The final packaging is double-wrapped to ensure sterility in the operating room and is ready for use by the surgeon, who can pick it up with instruments and\/or dry sterile gloves. The sponge can be easily cut and adjusted to the area of bleeding and can be applied directly to the wound by simply pressing.
